Our History & Values

With 3 distinct branches and a tunnelling team, we produce results in hyperloop pod and infrastructure design, business analytics, and research and development of cutting-edge technology. We bolster a culture of innovation and passion that extends to the 2019 SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition, in which our team placed as one of the top 19 teams in the world. Nationally, we tied for the most awards won at the 2023 Canadian Hyperloop Conference (now Hyperloop Global) and were recognized for having the best leadership amongst the competing North American teams.

Outside of technical work, we run the only dedicated professional development program within the Queen’s design team community. We focus on alumni mentorships, partnerships with industry sponsors, and personalized training. Our members benefit from workshops on Artificial Intelligence, Computer-Aided Design, Engineering and Mathematical Simulation, Resumes and Interviews, and more. Our partners include faculty members, industry-leading companies, and other hyperloop teams worldwide.

We are proud to have members from multiple faculties within Queen’s University, which includes all engineering disciplines and most specializations.

What is Hyperloop?

The Hyperloop is a mode of transportation located inside an extremely low-pressure tube. It would transport people in a pod between cities at speeds of over 700 km/hr. If fully realized, the over 5-hour travel time from Montreal to Toronto can be reduced to under 39 minutes for a price equivalent to a regular train ticket, while boasting zero direct carbon emissions.
