Advances to be made in upcoming 2018 SpaceX Hyperloop Competition
Hyperloop technology has come a long way since it was first proposed as a “fifth mode of transportation” by Elon Musk back in 2013. He envisioned The idea of having a hyperloop system is to revolutionize current transportation by providing a means that is faster, cheaper and safer than any existing alternative.
Now, not only are companies racing to build the first fully functional hyperloop pod, but the sharp young minds of university students have also entered the mix. Fast approaching, on July 22nd, 2018 university students will contend in the third installment of the SpaceX Hyperloop Competition. This competition is aimed at advancing the development of a real working hyperloop pod by keeping one goal in mind: maximum speed. Back in 2017, the winning team built a pod that reached a maximum speed of 201 mph. After working hard over the past year to make improvements, it will be very exciting to see what the students are able to achieve in this year’s competition!
